Executive Director Lynn Livesley with student Elizabeth Thuokok at the Annual Breakfast

Dear Friend of Literacy Source,

We are reaching out to you today with the news that after six tremendous years as Executive Director of Literacy Source, Lynn Livesley will be stepping down from her position at the end of the year.  We know that many of you have come to value Lynn for her tireless efforts on behalf of adult literacy, and we hope you will join us in wishing her well on all her future endeavors.

It’s hard to encapsulate all that Lynn has meant to Literacy Source over her tenure.  Under her leadership with an astounding staff and volunteer team, she has led the charge to increase access and reduce barriers, serving learners from over 68 nations.  She was instrumental in moving our headquarters to Lake City, enabling us to be closer to the communities we serve and assist more learners.  In fact, over the last five years, Literacy Source has doubled the number of students served and doubled the funding support for its work.  Under her direction, Literacy Source has grown from being a source of language lessons to being a true community school, providing a place of learning, safety, belonging, and empowerment.

Lynn’s gift has also been to create a rock-solid foundation that leaves us well-positioned to take advantage of future challenges and opportunities.  The Board of Directors is leading a team to search for the next leader who can help us maximize our potential to serve increasingly complex community needs. We will be reaching out again soon with more information about the search efforts and how you can help spread the word about this great opportunity.  In the meantime,  Lynn will continue with us throughout the transition, ensuring our programs continue to run smoothly and that our new leader will benefit from her expertise.  We anticipate welcoming a new director in early 2019.

Literacy Source has been so successful in its work because of our community support and partnerships, and we value your thoughts at this juncture. We welcome your questions and input – please don’t hesitate to contact me directly with your thoughts and ideas. We look back in gratitude for Lynn’s contributions, and look forward in excitement as we continue to strive towards our mission of Education, Equity and Opportunity for All.

Best,

Jennifer Collins-Friedrichs
