Volunteer Training: Beginning Literacy

This training is for all class instructors/assistants and tutors of students (ESOL and ABE) working on basic literacy (sight words, phonics, phonemic awareness, print awareness, beginning writing). For tutors and teachers of ABE 1-3, ESOL 1-4. The training will go over how to implement systematic literacy instruction as part of your reading lessons as well as provide examples of activities and strategies for supporting basic literacy development. The focus is on reading, but there will also be connections to teaching beginning writing.
