Learning reading would be a big deal for me because I never go to school.  Before I can’t read my name.  I can’t say ABCD, I can’t say nothing.  Before if I go someplace I don’t want people know I can’t read.  Now I feel better with my English.  I have still a long ways to go, but I will learn.

Workforce Instruction

We provide training opportunities that integrate English language and literacy instruction with instruction in workplace culture, computer literacy, budget management, and the practice of setting short- and long-term goals.  These programs support immigrants and refugees in developing language and job skills specific to their current and prospective fields.
  • On-the-Job Training: Literacy Source partners with local companies and organizations to offer free classes to non-native English speaking employees. Group instruction tailored to specific industries takes place on the job site or at our site in Fremont.
  • Customer Service for English Language Learners (ELL): This bi-annual intensive job training program prepares adults with limited English skills for employment in customer service. Open to low-income parents only.
