Citizenship Preparation

Literacy Source's citizenship program offers:
- Citizenship classes
- One-to-one or small group tutoring
- Practice interviews with a trained volunteer or staff member
- Citizenship application and fee waiver assistance for eligible adults
- Referrals for legal advice
- Community Engagement opportunities
Classes are in English and meet once or twice a week. Trained volunteers will teach you about U.S. History and Civics, interviewing skills, and civic engagement. You will also study the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills you need to pass the citizenship test.

To become a student or refer a client to Literacy Source for citizenship assistance:
- Call (206) 782-2050 to sign up for a New Student Orientation. Interpretation is available.
- You must have your Permanent Resident card (PR or green card) and be planning to apply for citizenship to receive citizenship services at Literacy Source. It is our priority to provide citizenship assistance to low-income adults who receive public assistance or live in the city of Seattle.
- Let staff know if you have already applied for citizenship and if you have a citizenship test coming up soon!
